A/Prof. Peter Schattner is a semi-retired GP and academic in Melbourne with research interests in the use of computing technologies in general practice.

With over 30 years’ experience in his role in the Department of General Practice at Monash University, Peter is a distinguished voice in primary care education and research. He has supervised a number of higher degree research students, run workshops for GPs, and presented at international conferences on a broad range of primary care topics, including research methods, evidence-based practice, and information technology.

Peter has a particular research interest in the use of information technology and information management techniques in general practice, as well as the ways that these can be applied to the management of chronic conditions. As an early adopter of information technologies with an extensive history of related publications, Peter’s research has been influential in the way that computing and information management are handled in general practice.
